Barnet Pavao-Zuckerman, Ph.D.
Associate Curator of Zooarchaeology Associate Professor of Anthropology
As part of my position in the Arizona State Museum, I participate in a number of public outreach activities including open houses, public education classes, exhibits, and events. In 2007, the Zooarchaeology Lab hosted its first "Calling All Critters" bone identification day. This road-show type also included lab tours and a number of animal-bone related activities for all age groups.
In July 2007, John McClelland and I co-directed an Archaeology Adult Summer Camp focused on bioarchaeology (human and animal skeletal remains). Ten "campers" participated in Summer Camp, learning some of the skills that bioarchaeologists and zooarchaeologists use to better understand the past. Our Summer Camp attracted a great deal of local media attention, including a spot on KUAT's Arizona Illustrated. Click here to watch the story on KUAT's website.
