- ANANOVA article (27 Oct 2001): The Taliban claim they have arrested a CIA agent. The man, identified as Major Mazhar Ayub, was apparently captured after he entered the Spinbuldock mountains near the Pakistan border. They alleged that Ayub was a US army officer who had fought in Vietnam, worked for CNN and was currently engaged with UNCHR in relief work at refugee camps in Pakistan.

- TNSM supporters head for Kabul
- DAWN article by Anwarullah & Haleem Asad (27 Oct 2001): Thousands of armed volunteers of the Tehrik Nifaz-i-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM) reached here on Saturday on their way to Afghanistan to fight for Taliban. The volunteers numbering around 10,000 were led by TNSM chief Maulana Sufi Mohammad. They were armed with Klashnikovs, rocket launchers, missiles, anti-aircraft guns, hand grenades and swords.
