- Boondocks
- Aaron McGruder's sharp and funny comic about contemporary African American life. It took him until 25 Sept to start in on the reactions to 11 Sept, but he hasn't quit yet. The 4 Oct strip got him dropped from a number of the nation's papers. Boondocks is often the bright spot in my day. Laugh til it hurts.

- How 'The Simpsons' survives
- NY TIMES magazine article by AO Scott (4 Nov 2001): Recently, as ''Simpsons'' fans on the Internet have begun speculating that ''The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson'' will become a ''lost episode,'' vanishing forever from syndication, I've found myself wondering how recent events will affect Springfield, the Simpsons' hometown.

- New York Defender
- I'm not sure if this is an attempt to be humorous or not. It's a web-based game where you attempt to shoot down the jets that are attacking the World Trade Center. The collapse of the buildings is quite realistic.

- Osama Has a New Friend
- WIRED article by Declan McCullagh (10 Oct 2001): Now, in a move that defies all rules of logic, a doctored photo showing Bert with the world's most-wanted terrorist, Osama bin Laden, seems to have made its way into an anti-American Islamic protest in Bangladesh.

- The Turkey Card
- NY TIMES op-ed by William Safire (5 Nov 2001): Reached by cell phone in purgatory, where he is expiating his sin of imposing wage and price controls, Richard Nixon agreed to an interview with his former speechwriter. [Not funny, for the same reasons Nixon was never funny.]

- This Modern World: Tom Tomorrow
- There's nothing funny about the loss of our civil rights except... maybe... this cartoon: "We can't afford to worry about constitutional protections against unreasonable search and seizure at a time like this."

- To Those Extremists Who Perpetrated This Crime Against Our Nation
- From a CNN message board: Orion Ramsey (21 Sept 2001): You shoot guns into the sky to celebrate victories over enemies, and people are killed by the bullets raining down on them. We not only do this for New Year's Eve in some cities, but we burn houses down, tear up streets, loot and sack our stores, and beat ourselves senseless when our sports teams win championships.

- Fetus-X
- Eric Millikin and Casey Sorrow take on terrorists, the Quran the millitary, the NYPD, racial profiling, and even other cartoonists -- all through the adventures of an embalmed fetus, a lab rabbit, and a break dancing Jesus. "It used to be only NYPD officers had the joy of wearing NYPD hats and screaming 'Hey, faggot!' at people, but now every American can do it themselves."
