Bitter, G. G. & Yohe, R. L. (1989). Preparing teachers for the information age. Educational Technology,29 (3), 22-25.
This article describes the logic used to prescribe a force fed
pre-service teacher technology curriculum. Admittedly it is based on the
stated assumption that, "the structure of education will remain the same in
the future." Somewhat contradictorily it cites the ineffectiveness of
traditional inservice programs as jusification for pre-service programs to
engender the ability to adapt to a changing society. To me it was a clear
example of what can occur when a need to change is perceived and advocated
without a real commitment to, or vision of, the change.
