This is the proceedings of the UCSMP International Conference of Mathematics Education in March, 1985. Two aspects of the text are especially interesting. One, is the world-wide nature of the reportings. Two, is the state of mathematics education prior to the publication in 1990 of the Standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
