MATHEMATICS 561
REGRESSION ANALYSIS
Fall 2003
For any assigned problems requiring computations you may use any statistical package
1. Identify the package used
2. Identify the commands-options used to generate the numerical results
In the case of MINITAB, if “Enable commands” is activated then the Session Window will generate a log of all steps. You can simply print this
3. Include a printout of all results generated by the program (in the form generated by the program).
4. Append a print out showing any numerical results required but not directly included in the program output.
5. Any needed text material should be wordprocessed, not handwritten nor typed
E.g. ,MS-Word, WordPerfect, TeX
6. On the outputs, identify by eq number the formula or formulas (as they appear in the text) used to generate each numerical result (It is not necessary to copy the formulas or equations, only identify by number).
7. Save your input files, you may need to use them again
PROBLEM ASSIGNMENTS
I. Due 16 September
2.7, 2.10 (also generate a plot of the residuals vs time) , 2.14
II. Due 7 October
Re-do 2.10 but with the intercept fixed at 75
Re-do 2.10 using a quadratic model (compare the results with the linear)
Compare the R2 values for both of these with the result from assignment I
