Welcome!

This course, Women and Health, is designed to give us an opportunity to think politically about two really broad things: "women" and "health." How do women interact with professional caregivers (like doctors)? Why and how do women get sick? What is the history of women's health and illness? How do relationships with the environment--natural and human-made--affect our health? Are questions of women's health and illness different from men's? When and how? And since "women" is almost as big and diverse a category as "humans,"we will try to look at a lot of different factors that shape women's health in the United States: race, class, sexuality, national origin, geography, work, and motherhood.
