Movie:
"Your mom's a lesbian: Here's your lunch"
Main Character: Jane.
Profession: Minister
Jane is a twin and enjoyed knowing that there was always someone who loved you.
Jane's sister told her to kind of hide her feeling and these feelings were just
a stage. Jane's mother though getting her a shrink would "straighten"
her out. Throughout the movie Jane hid it and said she dated males after her
Mom and sister found out about her sexual orientation
Jane got married and her family though it straightened her out. Her husband
was "shamed" by her sexual orientation. Jane, for the first seven
years of their marriage felt like she hurt her husband and children.
In Jane's family they all began to accept it. But Jane's father was the most
accepting up front because he knew he loved her no matter what.
Jane and her husband decided that they couldn't live like they were. So they
separated. They told their children that they were excited about what Jane had
found out. Her son's seemed very OK with the fact that their Mom was homosexual.
And they felt comfortable asking question such as "What is a 'dyke' or
'faggot,' etc."
They felt like after 13 years of marriage it was hard to just drop it. Took
them three months before "dad came over for dinner." With Jane lying
to herself it made her physically sick, but once she began being truthful to
herself she became healthy again.
Jane and Jim (her husband) taught their children that they should be true to
themselves no matter what.
It took someone asking Jane's sister, if she was "proud" of her sister,
to realize she was truly proud. Jane's parents truly believed in her and they
knew she was who she is. Her son Chet, looks up to Jane a lot.
