Southwestern Women Artists:
Erased From History

There has been a great deal of controversy regarding women's roles in the art world.  A commonly raised question is whether or not there have been any great women artists throughout history.  In a male dominated society, it has been very difficult for feminist interpretation to be acceptable.  Women artists have struggled through their careers, while similar male artists enjoy the world of fame and fortune.  This site depicts the obstacles and history of women in the art field along with a close look at local southwestern artists and the triumphs and conflicts they perceive about the role of women in art today, and how they feel about  the changes that have been made.
