GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Archaeological Settlement Pattern Studies: A Case Study Amidst the Rockpile Fields of the Early Classic Period Marana Community

The following is a teaching module designed to introduce you to GIS (geographic information systems) and illustrate how they may function as analytical tools that aid in answering anthropological research questions. New or unusual terms, which are highlighted throughout the text, are linked to supplemental sources (blue) or glossary definitions (red); please click on them for clarification where it is needed. To complete the exercise you also need to look at maps containing a variety of spatial data.
