INTRODUCTION:

For this unit, you will learn about two varieties of northeastern U.S. English (Boston and New York City) as well as a phenomenon referred to as the "Northern Cities Shift" which resulted in a new vowel system spoken in urban areas around the American side of the Great Lakes.
