Jan. 21 — President Bill Clinton gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fresh ideas on the Middle East peace process. Their second meeting of the day went past midnight, but there was no talk of a breakthrough.
“This gap has existed for now a year. It’s not going to be closed in a night,” a senior U.S. official told Reuters after the second 90-minute meeting between the two leaders.
