1. Contrast Hume and Locke on abstract ideas. Why is it important for them to have an account of abstract ideas? In your answer, make sure you mention any similarities in their accounts, as well as the differences.
2. Contrast Hume and Locke on knowledge. What in Hume plays the role that sensitive knowledge plays for Locke?
3. What role does necessary connection play in Hume’s views about causality? What problems does Hume have with it? Refer to 1.3.2 as well as 1.3.14 in your answer.
4. Discuss Hume’s skepticism with respect to each of 1.3.6, 1.4.1 and 1.4.7.
5. Outline and evaluate Hume’s argument against miracles. In your answer, discuss how his views on miracles relate to his views on causal or probable reasoning.
