Research & Reporting
Efforts this quarter have
focused on the synthesis of data collected from the Summer Focus Session that
was held the last week of June. These presentations and the guidance work that
I’ve conducted on the Spring Sponsored Projects have served as material for
upcoming articles I’ve been writing for EDUCAUSE Review and Innovate,
as well as an online presentation to the Collaborative Learning Fall
Conference (due in Jan) and a PowerPoint Producer presentation on
Appreciative Inquiry use in Higher Education for inclusion on the newly
designed EDUCAUSE/NLII website.
Highlights include:
- Developed
Questionnaire, Guideline Documents & Process for Net-Gen ebook
Interviews
- Assisted
at the NLII Fall Focus session at MIT
- Refined
the Summer Focus Session draft summary, to include the newly identified
items for the new website, including Key Insights, Process Notes,
Detailed Summary, and all synthesis of the data from Activities 1, 2, and
3.
- Developed
community relationship with CPSquare team on topic of Designing Virtual
Communities in Service of Learning using the text, Designing for Virtual Communities
in the Service of Learning Eds. Sasha A Barab, Rob Kling, & James
H Gray. Cambridge: Cambridge UP.
- Gave
interview on the presentation of Spring Focus Session for book pilot in
CPSquare
- Explored
with Vanderbilt regarding Faculty Innovative Practice Projects (FIPP) and
NLII Bridging VCOP collaborating on community possibilities. http://www.fipp.net
- Followed
up the Summer Focus Session on Bridging Research & Practice with
developing the Sponsored Projects goals connections, assisting
connections between goals and assessment documentation.
- Organized
& communicated with the authors of the PPT-Producer files for
illustrating the Key Themes for NLII new website
- Surveyed
and collected materials for new NLII Website ‘cool tools’
- VCOPS
- Ongoing
meetings with NLII VCOP Facilitators team
- Bridging

- The
five sponsored projects identified from the Spring Focus Session continue
to meet weekly and give monthly reports. At present, I am working with
them to evaluate their assessment forms and develop them further to yield
more helpful information to both the participants and the institutions,
as well as the NLII.
