Thank you for participating in evaluating the initial access of the prototype development for MOATS. Please ask about anything that you do not understand and write down anything that occurs to you. All clarification requests are most appreciated. Consider
the two pages before you as “one computer screen”. The
interface for MOATS will not look like this, but will contain these elements. If
you, as an instructor or instructional support staff,
approached these pages, please answer the following 1.
How do you understand or think about the Learner Roles &
Instructor Roles options. Please write what you would need to help you
understand to make better use of the “roles options.” 2.
What is your first inclination to act? What is your expectation as a
result of your action? 3.
What on the “computer screen” makes sense and what doesn’t? What is
unclear and needs more clarification? 4.
What is missing for you to get the instructional strategies and
activities you want? 5.
What is extraneous that you would never use in solving instructional
problems? 6.
What would you “play with” to see what information you received in
return? What would you not touch ever? If
you, as a researcher, approached these pages, please answer the
following: 1.
If you could and wanted to gather information from this instrument,
what kind of data would you find useful? What would you want added to get the
most useful information? 2.
If you were able to enter research information to be useful to
practitioners, what kind of information would be needful to assist you in
that goal? 3.
If you wanted to begin a project with an instructor based on some
work that you saw that they were doing, what information would you be looking
for in their work, in their information so that you could initiate the
conversation? 4.
What are your concerns regarding research in making such an
instrument available to practitioners, if any? What are the possible
pitfalls? If you could partner in creating the research structure, what would
you want to work on? 5.
What other ideas do you have regarding this possible intersection? If
you, as an IT director or CIO, were presented with the context,
goals and approach of the MOATS project, please answer the following: 1.
What is the potential value of MOATS to your organization? Your
institution? Your stakeholders (students, faculty, etc) 2.
How would you integrate the MOATs project with your existing course
support services on your campus? 3.
How and why would you promote an investment of human resource in the
implementation of MOATS? 4.
