  1. Statement of Intent – My intent is to create an instrument with which an instructor, or instructional support person, can enter an instructional problem or goal and a wizard will suggest an array of solutions or processes to attain it. The array should be displayed along a continuum based on the inputs concerning the instructor’s goals, preferences, and/or key instructional variables such as learner characteristics, subject matter content and learning task characteristics, or other contextual variables such as course level, class size, and teaching philosophy.

  1. Proposed Outcomes & Scope of the Project -

    1. To make instructional design and development prescriptive theories (to include at least one in each of the following domains: behavioral, cognitive, social) available to higher education, in an immediate, theoretically valid, and pedagogically useful way.
    2. To define, for the purposes of the above statement intent, a set of relationships between the “key terms” of each selected design theory that can be useful in defining the relationships between the “key terms” of additional prescriptive instructional design theories.
    3. To offer examples of good instructional strategies in a range prioritized to a user’s preferred mode of instruction with resources for further investigation if the user desires.
    4. To store previous instructional queries for future use and investigation per user.

                                                    i.     To draw on other user’s queries.

    1. To be able to systematically add to the data set of instructional design and development prescriptive theories used in the instrument

                                                    i.     For discussion with the programmer & database designer – previous existing theories new information

1.     To permit the user to add to the data set via a wizard

2.     To limit the additions to administrator users

ii.     For discussion with the programmer & database designer – add new theories

1.     To permit the user to add to the data set via a wizard

2.     To limit the additions to administrator users

  1. Requirements & Resources
    1. Software license – Thinkmap (developer’s license- currently; users’ license – eventually)
    2. Server for database - Oracle
    3. Programming data– Java, XML (thinking within, but need to discuss with programmer & database developer to make sure)
    4. People Resources – in the following resources we need Flash experience; not as an additional person, but folded within one of the resource skill sets
