Format:
All of the quizzes are multiple choice. Each quiz will have 20 questions, each worth 2 points. The quizzes will be set up and ready for you to take during a specified period of days. They will technically be open book, but they will be timed so that you will not be able to look up all the answers. The questions will also be randomized, so that you cannot write down the answers while taking the quiz and give them to a friend. There will be a practice quiz that will help you get accustomed to this format.
How it Works:
All of the online quizzes will be taken through a web browser using D2L (Desire 2 Learn). This is a piece of software licensed by the University that lets students and instructors perform all of the functions of a normal class through an ordinary Web browser (like Firefox or Internet Explorer), such as holding discussions and taking exams. You will NOT need to install any special software on your own computer to take the quizzes in D2L, aside from the Web browser you already need for the course.
You log into D2L at http://d2l.arizona.edu/ using the UA NetID that you use to access Student Link and WebMail. If you've added the course late, you may not have access immediately.
How to Study:
The quiz questions require you to know certain facts, such as the names of important archaeologists, dates, site names, etc. Write down the study terms listed at the beginning of each module, and then go through the Web site/lecture notes/readings and identify each of the items. If you write down whatever you can find about the terms, then you should do well on the quizzes.
HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT EVERY BIT OF INFORMATION COVERED IN THE QUIZZES IS LISTED IN THE STUDY TERMS.
