Workplace™ by Teamwave

Using Teamwave's Workplace™ Interactive Course Tool

Because this course utilizes distributed/distanced learning, we wanted to ensure the most interactivity possible for students and instructors to work as a class and for students to work together in groups. Teamwave's Workplace™ client offered us such an interactive learning environment.

The software functions as a group of "rooms" that are shared chat and whiteboard spaces with tools that allow for discussion boards, post-its, calendars, file sharing (text and multimedia), and concept maps.

You will need a user login and password to use Workplace™. If your instructor is using Workplace™, she or he will give you that information. If you are an instructor and would like to use Workplace™, please contact the Workplace Administrator to set up accounts for your course.

You will have to download the client to your desktops. The program is not large and is compatible with almost any platform or operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux). Once downloaded, you will be able to connect to the "host server" that stores all of the files, rooms, and tools that you create while online. You will be able to work on your Workplace™ offline, and copy anything that you create offline onto the server when you next connect.

If you are ready to download Workplace for your PC, click here. If you are ready to download Workplace for your Mac, click here and choose workplace-client.sea.sit. Follow the directions and install.

Once you have installed Workplace™, open the client.

Under "Teamwave Server" enter: cbuilder.arizona.edu
Under "Port", enter: 9019

When prompted, enter your user login name and password (case sensitive).

For information on suggested protocols for using Workplace™ in class, visit the user guidelines we have established. If you are an instructor, please visit the instructor guidelines.
