Teaching and Profcomm
This site is a comprehensive guide to the curriculum developed for online offerings of Business and Technical Writing through the University of Arizona, and associated resources for instructors, students, and the general public. The curriculum for the courses has been developed with curriculum development specialists, course coordinators, and community partners. Course content has been carefully tied to a set of learning tools to facilitate an innovative and highly interactive model of distributed learning possibilities for professional communication.
Our hope is that you will find everything you need for a successful course in this site (both the accompanying web pages and in the interactive workspaces). You have the ability to design your course from templates offered here, and modify those templates to suit your own needs and approaches. The course uses a "scenario" based approach, facilitated through a virtual organization created specifically for this curriculum--"The Profcomm Center." The assignments tie into the Profcomm Center scenario, and as courses utilize that scenario, The Profcomm Center will become an organic and growing resource for future courses as well as for community partners.
From these pages, you will find links to the course units including resources and samples, guidelines on how you might set up a course through Profcomm, information about how to download and use the interactive course tool, Teamwave's Workplace, and contact information to provide your valuable feedback to developing this project further.
We have also provided space on the UofA library's Electronic Reserve under the course title "All English 307", so that all English 307 and 308 instructors might place readings in a common area. If you wish to submit readings, contact menchaca@emailarizona.edu.
