Setting up a Course through Profcomm

We welcome all University of Arizona Business and Technical Writing course instructors and hope that you will consider using the materials on Profcomm, or even setting up a course through the Profcomm site.

If you would like to associate your course with the Profcomm site, you have several options. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Profcomm team.

As an instructor, you may simply use the course materials here and provide the Profcomm team with feedback.

The materials that are collected on this site are all available for instructional use. For example, you may adapt assignment sheets, link to the guidelines and resources for individual assignments, or utilize the writing examples on the site for your own courses. If you would like access to the readings on the site, please contact the Profcomm team for a password. Please note, however, that you will need to place the readings on reserve under your own course title if you do not become a Profcomm course.

You may adapt your course as a Profcomm course.

To become a Profcomm listed course, consult with the Profcomm team on utilizing the course materials here and link your course section under our “Course Sections.” In order to assure some standardization within the site itself, we do request that Profcomm course pages follow some basic guidelines. Templates are available for page formats. If your students will be working in the Profcomm Center scenario, we also would like to list them as “members” and to include their projects as examples and resources in the Profcomm site. To be a Profcomm course, you do not need to be teaching “online,” but we do encourage utilizing the online resources for the courses. As a Profcomm instructor, we would also appreciate your feedback, suggestions, and contributions to these resources.

As a Profcomm associated instructor, you may use the Workplace™ teaching environment.

Workplace™ (by Teamwave) is an effective online environment for real-time chat, sharing of files, conferencing, and presentations. Workplace™ also offers students and instructors a “professional communication” environment that enables students to consider what it means to communicate in professional settings as it is itself such a setting. If you are interested in using Workplace™ for your course, please read the instructor guidelines.

As a Profcomm instructor, you can establish projects with community partners.

One of the goals of the Profcomm project is to create relationships with local professional organizations to provide those organizations with resources, and to find opportunities for students to conduct analyses projects that are relevant and useful to those local organizations. Please contact the Profcomm team for assistance in working with community partners.
